Information for parents regarding school closure

Good afternoon

It is now a legal requirement for all schools to offer remote learning to children in the event of school closure. Four Swannes have invested in Purple Mash and other IT resources to make this possible. As I am sure you will agree, our children have missed enough school already which has had a negative impact on learning. Remote access will ensure that the impact of this current closure will be minimised as much as possible.

As of Monday 4th January, all children from Four Swannes will be set work to be completed remotely. Class teachers have, and will, be working on setting work, up to and including Friday 18th January, at which point the DfE will review our school closure.

Work set will cover the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. There will also be further foundation work to be carried out with additional tasks as set by the teacher of your child/children. Teachers have been asked to date and set work daily in line with the expectation that your child/children work every day to complete the set tasks.

Teachers will be checking on all children, daily, to ensure that work is being completed. It is vital that work is completed as expected. Staff will be able to leave comments and record voice instructions for your children to support and guide where necessary. Should it be seen that work is not being carried out then your child’s class teacher will contact you via My School app to understand why and how to rectify any issues. It is vital that all children carry out the work as set.

For those families that have issues with resources to enable work to be carried out, the school is expecting delivery of a very small number of laptops to support those in need. There are certain criteria that need to be met and school/parent agreements that need to be signed. If you need such support, please email with the detail of your need. We will do our best to support but please understand that the school has very low numbers of resources to lend.

Further enquiries can be made via the school office from Monday 4th January.

Kind regards

Mr Moore
