UNIFORM

It is the policy of Four Swannes school that all children will wear our agreed uniform each day.  This fosters a feeling of belonging to our community, and helps children feel equal to each other.

• Makes pupils feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
• Fosters a feeling of pride
• Is designed with health and safety in mind

Boys:

• Grey school trousers or grey school shorts in the summer
• White polo shirt with school logo or plain white shirt
• Red jumper or cardigan with school logo  
• Grey socks

Girls:

• Grey skirt, pinafore dress, school trousers
• White polo shirt with school logo or plain white shirt/blouse
• Red jumper or cardigan with school logo
• White or grey school socks or tights
• Red and white gingham dress in the summer

NO LEGGINGS – THESE ARE NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE SCHOOL UNIFORM

Headscarves/hijab:

These may be worn for religious reasons but must be in school colours – red and grey only.  These must also be removed during PE lessons, unless the Head Teacher has given permission following confirmation in writing from parents that the child is post-puberty, and only then if it is close fitting.

In all circumstances, long hair needs to be tied back for health and safety purposes. Hair accessories, such as slides, ribbons, bobble, etc., should be fairly simple and, if possible, in school colours.

Footwear:

Flat, black shoes (not trainers) for external wear. Black slip on or Velcro plimsoles to be worn whilst the children are indoors.

PE kit:

• White round neck t-shirt with school logo
• Black shadow stripe P.E. shorts
• Jogging bottoms (plain (no patterning) grey, black, dark blue ONLY) in cooler conditions
• Training shoes for external games sessions
• All to be kept in a draw-string P.E. bag
• School P.E. bags are available

All children require a school book bag and named water bottle.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL UNIFORM IS CLEARLY NAMED

Jewellery:

Jewellery is considered to be any form of adornment to the body, which is not clothing.  This includes all kinds of earrings (studs and “sticks”) and bangles. Any items worn from a religious perspective must be agreed with the Headteacher based on a written request from parent/guardian.

Children will not wear any form of jewellery to school, in order to maintain their health and safety.

If a child does wear jewellery, he/she will not be allowed to take part in any form of PE or use any climbing equipment outside.  

Make-up and nail varnish may not be worn to school.
